OIL & GAS

OIL & GAS PIPING

Oil and gas facilities operate in some of the world’s most demanding environments.

From upstream production and offshore platforms to gas processing plants, refineries, and pipeline infrastructure, piping systems must withstand corrosive process fluids, high pressures, abrasive media, and extreme operating conditions while delivering long-term reliability and safety.

At Douglas Barwick, we have a long history with the Oil and Gas industry in Canada, providing piping systems that operate reliably in both extreme weather and caustic, offshore environments.

Oil and Gas Piping Considerations

We manufacture welded pipe, fittings, fabricated pipe spools, and custom piping assemblies for upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas applications. Every system is fabricated to meet project specifications while addressing critical operating requirements such as:

  • Resistance to sour service (H2S) and chloride stress corrosion cracking using Duplex, Super Duplex, and high-nickel alloys,
  • Abrasion and erosion from process media,
  • High-pressure and high-temperature service,
  • Offshore and marine durability, and
  • Reliable welded construction for demanding process environments.

Oil and Gas Piping Materials

Oil and Gas requires strength, durability, and reliability in its piping systems. Selecting the right materials is critical for maximizing service life and maintaining system performance. At Douglas Barwick, we can fabricate piping systems for oil and gas in a wide range of materials to accommodate your project’s specifications.

304L stainless steel provides dependable corrosion resistance for utility systems and general process piping where operating conditions are less aggressive. 316L stainless steel offers enhanced corrosion resistance and is widely used for process piping exposed to chlorides, produced water, and other corrosive service conditions.

For more demanding environments, 317L stainless steel provides increased resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, making it well suited for process systems with higher chloride concentrations. Where exceptional resistance to chloride attack and aggressive process fluids is required, AL-6XN® offers outstanding performance in offshore facilities, seawater systems, and other highly corrosive operating environments.

For specialized applications involving severe corrosion, elevated temperatures, or high-pressure service, we also manufacture piping in Hastelloy® and Inconel® 625.

Common Oil and Gas Piping System Products

We manufacture a wide range of piping products for oil and gas facilities, including:

  • ASTM A312 stainless steel pipe
  • ASTM A358 electric fusion welded pipe
  • ASTM A403 WP-WX stainless steel fittings
  • Large-diameter welded pipe
  • Heavy-wall tees and reducers
  • Welded process piping assemblies

Our custom-fabricated pipe spools are frequently purchased by clients in the oil and gas industry, who often operate in extreme environments where a lengthy or complex assembly process would be prohibitive.

Frequently Fabricated Sizes

At Douglas Barwick, we manufacture pipe ranging from ¾ inch NPS to 96 inches in diameter, with fittings and accessories to match. Oil and gas projects commonly require both standard process piping and large-diameter fabricated pipe for production facilities, refineries, terminals, pumping stations, and transmission systems. We most often fabricate pipe with wall thicknesses from 14 gauge (0.083″) to 0.500″. We can discuss custom sizes and thicknesses upon request where your project specifications require something unique.
