LIQUID NATURAL GAS PIPING
Capable of performing reliably and maintaining structural integrity under demanding operating conditions.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities require piping systems capable of performing reliably at cryogenic temperatures and maintaining structural integrity under demanding operating conditions. From liquefaction plants and storage terminals to regasification facilities and LNG export infrastructure, piping must withstand extreme thermal contraction, high pressures, and rigorous quality requirements.
At Douglas Barwick, our LNG piping systems are built with the LNG industry’s needs in mind.
Liquid Natural Gas Piping Considerations
We manufacture welded pipe, fittings, fabricated headers, heavy-wall components, and custom pipe spools for LNG facilities and cryogenic process systems. Every assembly is fabricated to meet project specifications while addressing critical performance requirements such as:
LNG Piping Materials
Choosing the right materials for your piping systems is critical in cryogenic applications, where mechanical properties must be maintained at extremely low operating temperatures.
304L stainless steel is widely used throughout LNG facilities because it retains excellent toughness and ductility at extremely low temperatures while offering dependable corrosion resistance and weldability. 316L stainless steel provides enhanced corrosion resistance and is commonly specified where chloride exposure or more aggressive operating environments are a factor.
For specialized cryogenic or high-performance applications, we manufacture piping using Duplex alloys, Hastelloy®, and Inconel® 625, providing exceptional strength, impact toughness, and performance under demanding operating conditions.
Common LNG Piping System Products
We manufacture a variety of piping products for LNG and cryogenic process facilities, including:
We manufacture custom spool assemblies based on your specifications. The benefit of piping spools is their in-shop assembly, for easier, faster on-site installation with less downtime. This also reduces the risk of errors common with on-site system assembly for safer, more reliable operation.
Frequently Fabricated Sizes
At Douglas Barwick, we manufacture pipe ranging from ¾ inch NPS up to 96 inches in diameter, with fittings and accessories to match. LNG facilities utilize everything from small-bore process piping to large-diameter headers and transfer lines for liquefaction, storage, loading, and regasification systems. We manufacture light-wall Schedule 10S and heavy-wall spools (14 gauge to 0.500″ wall thickness), with heavier wall schedules available for high-pressure, low-temperature cryogenic service requirements.
Certifications & Standards
Our LNG piping products can be manufactured to meet applicable industry standards and project specifications, including:
We offer several tests and quality assurance measures upon request. Ask us about our 100% radiography, hydrotesting, ultrasonic testing, and more for peace of mind about your piping systems.
